Derek is such an incredible guide! He knows so much about whiskey, has a passion for it, and is really great at explaining things to less knowledgeable people. The tasting took place in a heritage pub in Dublin, and we all really enjoyed the experience and the setting! If you have a couple of hours, want to have fun, and also get a good understanding of this popular Irish drink, then search no further! This is a must do for you!

From start to finish Derek was energetic and had a wealth of whiskey knowledge like no one i have met before. I have been to a number of whiskey tasting experiences in the past but none come close. Derek has pure passion for whiskey and brings you through the whiskey story connected to each brand but also adds in some history. Five Stars! Derek gave a whiskey sampling for us at Palace Bar in Dublin. We were a group of U.S. firefighters in Ireland to march with the Dublin Fire Brigade on St. Patrick’s Day. The Brigade set this up (thanks Declan!) and not only was it fun but also very informative. Derek walked us through different types and regions of good grain and everyone enjoyed. Would absolutely recommend!

We enjoyed an intimate cocktail mixing class upstairs with a knowledgeable master mixer who shared fascinating whiskey history. Derek, our host, was incredibly knowledgeable about whiskey and Irish culture—his passion really shines through. The masterclass was fascinating, and the Irish Coffee we made was simply brilliant. I can’t recommend Experience Irish Whiskey enough! For my 40th birthday, my wife gifted us a tasting with Derek at the cozy Swan Bar near Temple Bar. We enjoyed a flight of 6 whiskeys showcasing Ireland’s diversity. Derek’s unmatched knowledge, wit, and passion made the experience unforgettable—far from commercial tours. The two hours flew by, and it was the weekend highlight for everyone. Definitely 5 stars!

My friends and I had an amazing Irish coffee Masterclass with Patrick yesterday – I thought I knew how to make a good Irish coffee but now I know how to make a perfect one thanks to Patrick.
He knows so much about Irish whiskey & we loved his knowledge of the history of Powers Whiskey and his wit and fun was just the best. He’s a true Dub and a pure beath of fresh air. It was such a fun thing to do with friends and I would highly recommend the class. Not to be missed.

Derek was like the gandalf of whiskey, he know everything, even the silly questions I asked, looks sharp knows what he is talking about and a legend of a bloke, I’m now a whiskey drinker and so is Tim.

We’re return customers—after doing the Irish Coffee class in Jan ’24, we brought friends for a private whiskey tasting in the Michael Collins room at the iconic Bank Bar.
